POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME (PCOS)
Clarity for a complex condition
PCOS is a hormonal and metabolic condition that can affect menstrual cycles, ovulation, skin, hair growth, weight, and long-term health. Not everyone experiences the same symptoms, and having ovarian cysts is not required for every diagnosis.
Because several conditions can cause similar symptoms, evaluation is important before assuming PCOS is the answer.
Evaluation
We review cycle patterns, symptoms, medications, family history, and health goals. Laboratory testing or ultrasound may be appropriate, along with evaluation for other possible causes.
Treatment
Care may include cycle regulation, contraception, treatment of acne or unwanted hair growth, metabolic-health support, and fertility referral when needed. The plan should reflect what matters most to you now and be revisited as goals change.
